How to make perfect sugar cookies: Basic Sugar Cookie Recipe

Hey guys! The other night I decided to make some Christmas sugar cookies. They came out so cute, I just wanted to share the recipe with you. All the ingredients are super simple and you most likely already have them on hand. To decorate I just used some Wilton brand white icing and Wilton brand sprinkles that I found at Michael’s. For a quick video on how I decorated these sugar cookies, check out my Instagram Reels ( @LifeofStyle_Blog ) or follow the link at the top of the page.

Ingredients

1 cup Granulated Sugar

1 cup Unsalted butter (softened, room temp)

1 Large Egg

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

1 tbsp Baking Powder

3 cups All Purpose Flour

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees with rack in center of oven.

2. Whisk together flour and baking powder in a small bowl, set aside.

3. Use a mixer to beat the sugar and butter together. Once creamed, add vanilla extract and egg to the mixture and beat to combine.

4. Slowly incorporate flour mixture into the butter mixture until well combined.

5. Divide dough into three equal parts and roll out onto a lightly floured surface until it is 1/4” thickness.

6. Use a cookie cutter to cut out your favorite shapes.

7. Bake cookies on a parchment lined baking sheet at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

8. Let cookies cool for at least 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

9. Wait for cookies to cool completely for a couple of hours before icing and decorating.

10. Enjoy!!
